Why Study Law?
Studying Law gives students a real insight into how the legal system operates, from dramatic criminal trials to everyday cases involving negligence and contract disputes. It helps develop precise thinking, logical problem-solving skills, and the ability to construct clear, evidence-based arguments. The course also encourages debate about justice, rights, responsibilities and fairness, fostering informed and confident citizens. Additionally, it provides an excellent foundation for further study and careers in law, criminology, policing, business, politics, and many other fields.
Years 12 & 13: (A Level)
The course is delivered through the use of real and recent cases, statutes, and news stories, ensuring that students consistently see the connection between legal rules and real-life situations. Students engage with regular problem questions and mini “moots” (mock arguments) designed to develop their practical application skills and confidence in using legal authority. Exam technique is taught explicitly, with guidance on structuring essays and problem answers, supported by frequent low-stakes tests to reinforce learning. Additional support materials, including case-law summaries, key-term glossaries, and model answers, are provided to help all students access and understand complex legal content.
