Beaulieu
in the Community

Serving the common good

The Beaulieu community is a thriving hub of students, parents and staff who contribute to our wider community, both here in Jersey and overseas.

At the heart of Beaulieu, we believe the community we are part of, both in and outside of the school, is central to our children and students succeeding as happy, emotionally mature, resilient adults.

Over the last two years, we have raised thousands of pounds for local and national charities through Friends of Beaulieu events, House Charity Days, and other school events. These events are not just about raising money, but also ensuring our children and students have a wider view of the world around them and feel empowered to make a difference.

Here are some of the wonderful charities Beaulieu supported in 2023/2024.

Mustard Seed Jersey, Kezia’s Fund, Dementia Jersey, Red Nose Day, Children In Need, CAFOD, Grace Trust, Lions Club Jersey, Durrell “Cans do Corridors”, Jersey Christmas Appeal, Save the Children, Bailiff’s Island Appeal, CRY Jersey, Caritas Catolica Oradea, AVS Changing Lives, Smiles Foundation, Romania, NSPCC, Cystic Fibrosis.

Public benefit

Beaulieu’s Public Benefit was developed and formalised in 2018. To ensure that Beaulieu is being run for the Public Benefit, we adhere to the following guidelines when making decisions:

We strive to ensure Beaulieu’s purpose provides public benefit
We focus on how our purpose is beneficial and ensure we deliver our purpose in order to provide public benefit. Whilst we are a fee-paying school, we understand, and therefore ensure, that the provision we make available for those of low or modest means must be at an appropriate level and not just a token gesture.

We strive to place ‘Children First’ in everything we do.
We achieve this by protecting and supporting the students in our care, helping to improve their educational outcomes by involving and engaging them in the decisions that ultimately impact on their everyday lives. We firmly believe that all students have a right and an equal opportunity to be safe, be nurtured, flourish, discover their passion and fulfil their potential.

We strive to ensure that our decision-making around who benefits from Beaulieu adheres to our purpose.
It is essential that we know, understand and are consistent in our position on who may be able to benefit from Beaulieu’s purpose. We must be able to demonstrate that all possible ways of delivering our purpose have been considered and provision has been made to enable us to achieve this.
