Beaulieu shortlisted for prestigious ISA Award for Excellence in Visual Arts & Creative Writing

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the ISA Award for Excellence in Visual Arts & Creative Writing 2026.

The shortlist recognises the breadth and ambition of creative opportunities at Beaulieu, from Reception through to Year 13, and comes after a record number of entries for this year’s awards. The judges commented that they were particularly impressed by the work taking place at Beaulieu.

At Beaulieu, we believe that every child has a canvas and every child has a voice. Creativity is not an optional extra; it is woven into everyday school life, with students encouraged to imagine, create and communicate with confidence.

Our students have enjoyed an exceptional year of creative achievement. Year 13 students Jessica, Daisy and Scarlett gained international recognition after winning Junk Kouture and being crowned London Designers of the Year at the finals in Dublin with their sustainability-inspired design, Carbon Footprints.

Writing is equally celebrated across the School. Year 9 student Carmen won the Lumière Education Junior Scholars Essay Competition, selected from more than 1,000 entries, for her essay exploring the ethics of DNA testing. Meanwhile, our Year 12 students write and publish The Beaulieu Insider, developing their journalism, editorial and leadership skills through a publication shared across the school community.

Our students also have opportunities to share their work with audiences beyond the classroom. This year, GCSE Art, A Level Fine Art and A Level Photography students staged Creative Horizon, a two-week public exhibition on Jersey's Waterfront, while our annual Art Week sees every child in Primary contribute to a collaborative artwork exhibited at the Jersey Arts Centre.

Creativity also connects our students with the wider Jersey community. Year 12 Fine Art students recently collaborated with the Jersey Development Company and students from other local schools to create a large-scale mural in a public underpass, transforming an everyday space through art.

The strength of our creative curriculum is also reflected in our academic outcomes. This year, Textiles achieved 90% A–A and 100% A–B, while Fine Art achieved 89% A*–A and 100% A*–B**. Four students have also secured places at the prestigious University of the Arts London to study Fashion Design, Fashion Technology and Textiles.

For us, however, success in the creative arts is about much more than grades and awards. It is about allowing every student to discover what they can do, develop their own creative identity and share their ideas with authentic audiences.

From a Year 5 student designing her first tote bag, to students creating internationally recognised fashion, publishing their own journalism or exhibiting artwork publicly, creativity is celebrated in all its forms at Beaulieu.

We are incredibly proud to have been recognised as a finalist and look forward to celebrating alongside the other shortlisted schools at the ISA Awards Ceremony in November, when the 2026 winner will be announced.
