Our mission & intent
Our mission is to help students make informed choices, to give them the best chance of achieving their goals - both in school and afterwards.
The Careers Department intends to provide a coherent, inclusive, and aspirational careers education programme that equips all students aged 11–18 with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to make informed decisions about their futures. Rooted in the Jersey Curriculum for Careers and underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks, our provision ensures that every student is prepared for successful transitions into further education, training, or employment.
We aim to develop confident, reflective, and resilient learners who understand their own strengths, interests, and values, and who are able to navigate an ever-changing labour market. Through a progressive careers programme embedded across all year groups, students will gain meaningful encounters with employers, employees, and education providers, alongside access to high-quality, impartial careers guidance.
Our aims
Our curriculum aims to:
Provide stable and structured careers education that is embedded across year groups.
Ensure access to up-to-date labour market information, enabling students to understand local, national, and global opportunities.
Address the needs of each student, promoting equality of opportunity and challenging stereotypes.
Link curriculum learning to careers, helping students understand the relevance of their studies to future pathways.
Facilitate regular encounters with employers and workplaces, including experiences of the workplace.
Provide meaningful encounters with further and higher education providers.
Offer personalised guidance to support informed decision-making at key transition points.
