Trips & residentials

Learning beyond the classroom

At Beaulieu, some of our girls’ most memorable learning happens beyond the classroom. Throughout their time in Primary, they have the opportunity to explore Jersey, discover new places, meet people, experience different cultures and put their learning into practice through a wide range of trips, visits and residentials.

From exploring Jersey’s history at La Hougue Bie and Gorey Castle to discovering habitats at the Zoo, investigating the natural environment and taking part in hands-on workshops, our programme brings learning to life and gives our girls opportunities to be curious, creative and adventurous.

As they grow in confidence, so do the opportunities. Our older girls take part in residential experiences, developing independence, teamwork and resilience while having fun and making memories with their friends. Year 5 girls enjoy a two-night residential at Crabbe, while Year 6 girls have the opportunity to travel off-island for a residential at PGL in the UK.

Exploring Jersey

Jersey itself provides an incredible classroom. Our girls make the most of the island through visits and activities linked to their learning, including:

  • Gorey Castle – exploring Jersey’s history

  • La Hougue Bie – discovering the Stone Age

  • St Ouen and the Frances Le Sueur Centre – taking part in Forest School activities

  • Hamptonne – exploring places and people from the past

  • Jersey Heritage sites – bringing topics such as the Victorians to life

  • Jersey Zoo – exploring habitats and taking part in specialist workshops

  • Jersey Museum and Maritime Museum – discovering Jersey’s heritage and natural environment

  • Rock-pooling with the National Trust

  • Farm and Dairy visits

  • Jersey Library

  • Howard Davis Park – nature and story trails

Making memories

Trips are not just about where we go, but what our girls discover along the way. Whether they are dressing up for Victorian Day, exploring the natural world, taking part in a bushcraft workshop, competing in a STEAM event or experiencing their first residential away from home, every experience provides opportunities to develop confidence, independence and friendships.

Residential experiences

Our residential programme gives our older girls the chance to step outside their comfort zones, try something new and develop valuable life skills in a supportive environment.

Year 5 – Crabbe
A two-night residential at Crabbe gives the girls the opportunity to develop independence, teamwork and practical skills while enjoying a range of outdoor activities, including bushcraft.

Year 6 – PGL UK
Our Year 6 residential takes the girls off-island to PGL in the UK, providing an exciting opportunity for adventure, challenge and personal growth as they prepare for the next stage of their education.

And there’s plenty more...

Trips and residentials form part of a much wider programme of enrichment at Beaulieu. From music, drama and sport to Forest School, STEM, competitions and special events, our girls are encouraged to try new things, discover what they enjoy and make the most of every opportunity.
