Beaulieu Sixth Form: Live, Learn, Lead

Choosing where to study after GCSEs is about more than subjects and exams - it’s about finding a place where you feel known, supported, and inspired to grow. At Beaulieu Sixth Form, we help students develop not only their academic potential but also their confidence, wellbeing, and sense of purpose.

Our Sixth Form is shaped by three simple principles: Live, Learn, and Lead. Together, they describe an experience that’s ambitious, inclusive, and built around genuine care.

Live:

Life at Beaulieu Sixth Form is defined by strong relationships and a real sense of belonging. Many students describe it as a “second home” - a welcoming place where teachers know them well and support them to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

New students joining us from other schools quickly become part of the community. A friendly induction programme, approachable staff, and an inclusive ethos help everyone settle in and feel valued from the start.

Our modern Sixth Form Centre and Learning Resource Centre offer the right balance of independence and support, with quiet study spaces, group areas, and comfortable social zones. It’s an environment that encourages focus, friendship, and personal growth.

Beyond lessons, students can take part in a wide range of enrichment and elective activities - from car maintenance and cookery for university to personal finance and wellbeing. Regular House events, charity fundraisers, and creative challenges bring the community together and add real energy to Sixth Form life.

Trips and expeditions are another highlight. From visits to London and Europe to adventures further afield, our students experience learning that stretches far beyond the classroom. The annual World Challenge expedition to locations such as Cambodia and Vietnam is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, building resilience and opening minds to new cultures.

At Beaulieu, to live well means belonging to a community that helps you grow - in confidence, empathy, and independence - ready for whatever comes next.

Learn:

Academic ambition sits at the heart of Beaulieu Sixth Form. We offer the broadest curriculum on the island, so every student can choose a programme that reflects their interests and future goals.

Our A Level options include well-established academic subjects such as History, Fine Art, English Literature, and Chemistry, providing a strong foundation for university study. Alongside these, our BTEC qualifications in Medical Science, Health and Social Care, and Business Studies offer a more applied and practical approach. Subjects like Law, Criminology, Sociology and Music Technology are unique to Beaulieu and add further variety and open doors to exciting future pathways.

Students at Beaulieu consistently achieve excellent results and make impressive progress from their starting points - a testament to their commitment and the expertise of their teachers. Lessons are designed to challenge and support in equal measure, helping every learner reach their full potential.

Learning here goes beyond the classroom. Students take part in essay competitions, attend lectures from visiting speakers, and join visits to universities and cultural venues both locally and in the UK. These experiences help to develop curiosity, independence, and confidence - qualities that make Beaulieu students stand out in any future application or interview.

Our dedicated staff also provide expert guidance with UCAS, personal statements, and career planning. Whether a student’s next step is a Russell Group university, a competitive apprenticeship, or employment, we ensure they are fully prepared for the journey ahead.

Lead:

Leadership at Beaulieu is about service, example, and responsibility, not just titles. Students are encouraged to lead with confidence and integrity, developing skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

There are many ways to get involved. Formal roles include the Head and Deputy Head Girl and Boy, who represent the student body and lead key initiatives. They’re supported by a diverse prefect team with responsibilities such as Environmental Action, Diversity, and Rights Respecting. Subject Prefects and House Captains play an equally important role in mentoring younger pupils and building community spirit.

Every Sixth Former is seen as a role model for the younger students in our all-through school, and leadership is woven into everyday life through teamwork, volunteering, and example. These experiences help students develop communication, initiative, and empathy - qualities that universities and employers consistently value.

At Beaulieu, leadership means making a positive difference to others and to yourself.

Live. Learn. Lead.

To Live, Learn, and Lead at Beaulieu Sixth Form is to join a community that combines ambition with care, independence with belonging, and opportunity with purpose.

Our students leave with excellent qualifications, lasting friendships, and the confidence to shape their own futures. Whether you are already part of Beaulieu or joining us from another school, you’ll find a Sixth Form that challenges you, supports you, and helps you grow.

Here, you won’t just be prepared for university or work, you will be prepared for life.
