- Evie Bertram
Evie Bertram, 25, is a junior costume maker from Jersey who had the incredible opportunity to contribute to the much-anticipated Gladiator II movie. From March to August 2023, Evie worked in London and Malta, creating costumes for key characters such as Lucilla, Caracalla, Geta, and a group of senators. Her work on the film, part of a skilled team of eight, involved intricate craftsmanship, with each costume being a collaborative effort across various departments, including leather, jewellery, and fabric dyeing. Evie was thrilled to hear that the film's costume designers, David Crossman and Janty Yates, received an Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design at the 97th Academy Awards.
While she didn't work directly with the lead actors, such as Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington, Evie had the memorable experience of visiting the set and seeing the movie in production, a special moment given the film's connection to the original Gladiator.
Before this project, Evie worked on films like The Marvels and Meg 2, as well as the series My Lady Jane. Her passion for costume design and her pride in contributing to such a monumental film continue to fuel her thriving career in the industry.
