Year 9 Students' Phone-Free Experiment
At Beaulieu, we believe in the power of connection, not just online, but face-to-face, heart-to-heart. So when our Year 9 girls decided to take on a two-week phone-free challenge, we were right behind them. What made this journey even more special was that Mr. Harris, our Head of English, joined the experiment too, stepping away from his phone for the entire two weeks!
We won’t pretend it was easy at first. There were moments of doubt and yes, a few cravings to just “check one quick message”, but with each day, the girls and Mr Harris noticed that actually, time away from their phone allowed them to enjoy other, more important things in life.
ITV News was there throughout the experiment to capture the time away from phones, from the Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to the weekend spent with family and friends
We’re incredibly proud of our Year 9 girls and Mr. Harris for taking on this challenge with courage and curiosity. And we’re grateful to ITV News for sharing their story. Here’s to more moments of connection, discovery, and presence together.
